In this course, students will begin by learning a variety of basic embroidery stitches that will slowly be applied to a final finished embroidery piece. Students will be encouraged to explore the application of these stitches in a way that allows them to express their unique artistic style and voice. We will be working primarily on fabric in this course, but students will have the option to integrate paper and watercolor into their embroidery practice. This course is suitable for students with no embroidery experience as well as those who have more confidence in embroidery but would like to take their practice to the next level.
You can email us with any questions about the course at summer@alaska.edu.
